Employee Spotlight Series: Jeremy Hill, New Market Growth Director

PatientPing was born out of the realization that patients get better care when their providers work together. What started as an idea at a kitchen table near Fenway Park has since evolved into a network of thousands of providers across the country coordinating care. Five years since starting, our team of 100+ employees comes together every day in our Boston headquarters with the singular goal of connecting providers to seamlessly coordinate patient care. Our values–grit, rigor, ownership, authenticity and humility–unite us to persevere through the difficult and gratifying journey of improving healthcare for all.

Position Description: Jeremy leads PatientPing’s expansion into new markets, and is in charge of identifying, evaluating, structuring and building alliances with strategic market partners. His deep healthcare domain experiences assist in shaping relationships between payers, providers, regional and state health information exchanges, state government agencies, and other market participants helping to grow the national footprint of the PatientPing network. Jeremy has been with PatientPing since August of 2017.

1. What prompted you to join PatientPing?

Spending a week in the PICU with my daughter changed my perspective on healthcare. All of a sudden, I was a parent dealing with our fragmented healthcare system, and it made my experience much more personal. The inefficiencies I witnessed revealed that there is a long way to go in the meaningful delivery of care. I want to help make providers more efficient through the utilization of technology to ultimately help drive better performances. I was looking for an organization where I could improve provider performance and utilize my experience in the industry to help transform healthcare. Making a positive impact on the advancements of healthcare technology drives me to get out of bed in the morning.

2. What is your favorite aspect of your new role?

In my role at PatientPing, I get to work with some the most innovative healthcare systems, payers, and Accountable Care Organizations in the country to help build a national care coordination network. The shift from volume to value has really broken down barriers in the exchange of clinical data. This has, for the first time, enabled companies like PatientPing to build a nationwide network of connected providers. It is exciting to be a part of such a rapidly growing organization that is transforming the way healthcare is delivered.

3. What excites you most about the future of healthcare?

I believe technology will improve healthcare communication between providers and their patients, while also improving the quality of care delivered to patients. Many of us are not only consumers of healthcare services, but are also responsible for the care of a dependent or aging parent. If correctly designed and implemented, healthcare technology can empower patients to be in control of their healthcare, while also delivering the necessary data to help providers make wiser decisions for their patients. Products like PatientPing allow providers to stay connected with their patients, even if they are across the country receiving care.

4. Name a fun fact about yourself.

When my daughter was just one week old, I began my Graduate program. It was a very long two years of diaper-changing, midnight feedings, writing papers, and studying. In hindsight, I must have been crazy to go back to school with a newborn. However, I was able to finish on time and at the top of my class.
